Sinead at David Letterman - June 13th 1997
From: Brian Fumo <bjf@usa.net>
Wow, I haven't seen her in a very long time. First impression on her television appearance tonight: She looked amazingly young and beautiful. Short hair very much works for her (though none does too). I was a little worried that the New York crowd was going to hold some sort of grudge after her we-know-what several years ago, but if their applause was slightly unsure before "This is to Mother You," it was very sure afterwards. She gave a wonderfully modulated performance flanked by her bevy of backup singers, in fine voice, very similar to the recording. Letterman seemed profusely happy she was there, though he's that way with all the musical guests. Three minutes was not enough though, so I'm profusely happy myself that I'll get to see her perform close-up on Tuesday.

I, too, just saw Sinead on Letterman, and--wow! It was awesome to see her. I thought she looked a little nervous, both before she began singing, and right after. It seemed like she was waiting to see how the audience would respond to her. Did you catch that smile right after she finished? She sounded wonderful. The only disappointment was that Dave didn't talk to her afterwards.
